Here is what you should do: Take the original rough road to Big Sur. At Bixby Bridge a dirt road goes inland and south. You will skirt Pico Blanco, travel through the El Sur Ranch, traverse canyons full of ferns, redwoods and sycamores, and finally emerge just north of Pfiffer State Park. I guarantee you'll have an amazing adventure...
a few technical notes... Polaroid Type52 4x5 sheet film. 4x5 Calumet view camera on tripod, with 210mm Schneider Symmar lens. This Polaroid was taken in the mid '60s, and print quality has not detectably deteriorated over time. The lacquer coater-swabs that come packed with 4x5 Polaroid film packets are messy, but effective. Improper coating will cause print to fade. Polaroid now offers 'coaterless'film (Type #58), and even though coating is a hassle, I prefer the "less plasticy" charactaristics of Type #52.
