a few words from the photographer...

Redwood Forest, Armstrong Grove

Here is what you should do...   Travel west from the Avenue of the Giants to the less-peopled Armstrong Grove near Redway.   Take a spectacular 50 mile side trip to a forgotten area.   Go west on Mattole Road, over King Mountain to the Ocean, north to the Victorian-style town of Ferndale, and back to Highway 101.

a few technical notes...
Polaroid Type52 4x5 sheet film. 4x5 Calumet view camera on tripod, with 210mm Schneider Symmar lens.  On a spongy forest floor the tripod can be unsteady.   This was a 30 minute exposure, f-45.
